Toad The Wet Sprocket 2025
Toad The Wet Sprocket
Toad’s 2025 tour was the first year that I was involved as a designer and programmer, but did not operate the show. The band also decided to utilize timecode for the first time. Building on the feedback from previous years, I developed a design that met all of the band’s goals. The goals of this year’s design were to:
- Create depth through multiple layers of lighting
- Embrace shadows, darkness, and silhouette
- Visually fill the space left by a lack of scenic elements (With haze and direct view fixtures)
- Elevate the mirror ball
- Take advantage of timecode to create more consistent detail
Some of these goals were met through physical decisions with the floor package (such as mounting the mirror ball on the top of the center boom and touring with beam fixtures to highlight it). Others were achieved through programming decisions. Given the band’s adoption of timecode, I was able to create more complex programming that focused on finding the moments where we could reduce visibility in exchange for dramatic visuals.
The show was programmed on MA3 and made extensive use of recipes.
